The Roman Times still only 6 dinari C A E S A R M U R D E R E D ! 16th March 44 BC Just yesterday Julius Ceasar was murdered in the Senate house in Rome. It was a Republic meeting. Ceasar took his seat at the base of Pompey's statue. Tilius Climber, a senator, walked up to Ceasar pretending to ask a question. Ceasar waved him away, but Climber grabbed him and pulled down his toga. Then several members of the Senate jumped up and surrounded Ceasar with knives, among them Ceasar's friends Cassius and Brutus. One of the Casca brothers stabbed him in the neck. Ceasar was stabbed 23 times. When he saw Brutus coming he pulled his toga over his head. Some witnesses say that before that he cried out "You too my child?" which provides doubtable avidence that Brutus may have been Ceasar's son. He was left at the base of Pompey's statue in a pool of blood until some slaves carried him away on a stretcher. Soon after, Ceasar's funeral took place. He was cremated, and people threw their valuables in the fire because it was thanks to Ceasar that they had them. A pillar was erected on which were the words "To the father of his country". -------------------------------------------------------------------- TETRA TOGAS! Buy our togas! The BEST In Rome.
